Creating your first vision board
The VBS is designed to keep your focus on important aspects of your life. This might be goals that you have set, things that you are grateful for or visualizations of how you want your life to be. The strength of VBS lies in the fact that the system combines your images and text and keeps you focused on them. This section shows you the basic steps in creating your own vision board.
To create a new vision board we must go to the VBS studio, the easiest way to access the VBS studio is to open the VBS Manager. The VBS Manger is in the lower right notification area of your desktop.
|
| Click on the VBS Manager icon to bring up the dialog. Click on the VBS Studio icon in the lower left corner of the dialog screen. |

The VBS Studio application will now begin and show you a welcome screen. Click on the continue button in the top right corner of the screen to move to the Control Room. If this is the first time you are running the VBS Studio then a Activation Request Screen will automatically pop-up. We encourage you to activate the VBS as soon as convenient, although it is possible to continue with an un-activated VBS for a number of days.
|

In the control room you can edit existing vision board scripts or you can create new vision boards. Before you create your own vision board you may want to open one of the example vision boards to familiarize your self with the software. When you are ready to create your own make sure you come back to the control room panel.
|
Create a new vision board by clicking on the “new” button and typing in a name of your vision board. You will automatically be moved to “1: Images and Text”. |
|

|
You can add more rows to your vision board by clicking on the “Add Item” icon in the toolbar. A new vision board will have the first item available. Each item in your vision board consists of text, a title and an image. Each item can also belong to a “group”. By default items of the same group will be displayed together when you run your vision board on your computer. |

Use the Text and Title column to add any text you like. Text will appear at the bottom of the presentation and Titles appear at the top. If you are looking for inspiration we suggest you use the Affirmation and Power Word libraries accessible from the tool bar. |
To make your vision board a bit more playful and different you can apply a frame to your images. A frame alters the shape of the image; the effect is not permanent so feel free to play around with the different frame shapes to see what is most suitable for your image. |
|
If you really want to customize and flash up your vision board then we suggest looking at the vision board options. You can alter the fonts used in your vision board, the colors and the behavior of the vision board when the presentation is running. |
Don’t forget to save your script every once in a while. When you are happy with your vision board items then it is time to go to step 2, adding backgrounds.

Each vision board script should have at least one background. You can add any image that you like as a background, however we suggest a image that is landscape in orientation, rather than portrait. Also if you select a very busy image with a great deal of contrast then you may find it difficult to read the text that is shown on the background. An attractive image that has some empty space will work well as a background to your vision board.
The first background image functions as the default background, if you add more background images then you need to assign each background to a “group”. The groups can be created in Step 1. Backgrounds that do not have a group assigned will have an empty frame icon shown on the right side of the list box. Once assigned the background will have a fill frame icon displayed. You cannot have more than one image assigned to the same group.
|
You can add as many backgrounds to your vision board. The background will only be displayed if it is assigned to a group. To delete a background select the background entry and click the delete background icon. To add an image you select the background entry from the list and either double click the preview window or click on the Add Image icon. When you are happy with your background images you can go to Step 3. Don’t forget to save your script. |

Adding audio makes your vision board come alive. You can add music by clicking on the Add Music File icon.
|
Apart from music it is also possible to add your own voice to the vision board. The VBS comes with a built in voice recorder. The sounds files can be added to the voice track.
If you are adding both music and voice it sometimes makes sense to set the relative volume of the music track to be significantly lower than the voice track. In other words clicking on the volume icon will allow you alter the volume of the music track in comparison to the voice track.
|
When you have finished adding audio press the save button. You can try your vision board script by clicking the preview icon. |

The presentation window will pop up. You can display the preview in a small window, large window or display your vision board fullscreen. You can also set what presentation style you would like to use. Initially we suggest using the standard presentation style. Putting a tick in “always on top” will ensure the presentation window floats above all other windows on your desktop. To preview click the start icon in the centre of the presentation screen. To finish preview either close the window or click on the presentation window.
If you have finished your first vision board script click on on the “done” button in the top right corner of the VBS Studio.

Now you are back in the control room. If you want your script to automatically appear as a screen saver you will need to activate your script. Select your vision board from the list of scripts and press the activate button or click on the grey ball beside the vision board entry. Scripts that have a green ball on the left hand side are activate scripts. If you no longer want a script to be activate simply click the green ball or the “inactivate” icon.

Congratulations you have created your first vision board script. |
